We need to be reminded that Love is what motivated God in sending His son Jesus Christ to pay the price for our sins. I do feel the Lord has awakened this truth to me in a very poignant way in the last few weeks.

I find it really easy to emphasize the things we should do for Christ rather than just experiencing His never ending love. I so appreciate that the Lord is the initiator and we are the responders. Ephesians 1:7-8 verifies that truth, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence”

Let me quote a section from Pastor Chuck Smith’s book, Love: The more excellent way. “Just how huge is the love of God? How great is it? “Greater love,”Jesus said has no one than this, than to lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). As John marveled over the willing self sacrifice of Jesus, he couldn’t help but write, “Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we should be called the children of God!”(1 John 3:1).

My prayer is that I never devalue God’s love in my life or ministry. I also want to remember how God’s love is the greatest act of selflessness the world as ever known and I need to make sure the Cross of Jesus Christ stays at the center of my heart.

I pray today that you will find “God loves you” as sweet words to your ears. No matter what trial you’re in or how low you feel you’re sinking, the pit is not too deep where God’s love can not reach.

If you signed up, your free copy of Pastor Chuck Smith’s book, Love: The more excellent way is ready to be picked up at the bookstore.

Enjoy the read and may the Lord use it to overwhelm your heart with His Love.

Hi everyone!

Today was our first Sunday to use our buildings phase 2 section. I am thankful to the Lord for being able to add 4 new rooms for our Youth and Children’s ministry. We are also opening our new Nursery.

Our Wednesday night ministry will start back up on September 10th. The Kids club (Kindergarten to Grade 5) will resume with registration at 6:45pm and The Adult Bible study will begin at 7pm.This year we will be studying thru the book of Joshua. This year Wednesday night will also include REALITY youth ministry (Grade 8 to 11) and “The REAL deal” (Grade 6 and 7).

The REALITY young Adult (Grade 12 and up) study will be meeting at the reality Lounge on Fridays; they start back September 12th at 7:30pm. Reality Young Adult group can be found on Facebook…look it up.

Our Discipleship home groups will start on Sunday Night, September 14th and Tuesday, September 16th.If you have signed up for these 10 week courses; you will receive more detailed information via email next week. If you missed out this time we will be providing these courses again in January 2009.

So we have an exciting September full of opportunities to grow in Christ. I also would like you to mark your calendars and plan to be apart of three important ministry times in the next few months. We have a ladies retreat on November 14-15 at Stillwood in Chilliwack; Join with other Calvary women for a time of refreshing from the Lord (brochures at bookstore).

On Sunday, November 16th, David Carroll from Gospel for Asia will be with us and then a special prayer gathering in the evening for Missions, other fellowships will join us for this important time of waiting on the Lord for this strategic mission.

We will be having a Couples retreat on February 6 -7, 2009 at Cedar Springs in Sumas, Washington. We are privileged to have Pastor Sandy Adams from Stone Mountain Calvary Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia be with us for the whole weekend. Check him out at http://www.calvarychapelstonemountain.com/

Hope you like our new website ! Be sure to check it out often. The New media section now has podcast capabilities.

God Bless each one and may this new season be a time we continue to grow closer to Jesus and each other!

Love in Christ,
Pastor Mike
